DeveloperMichael “4G” Forgeyat a young age of 43, lost his battle with a rare form of cancer: “Glioblastoma"last year, on March 2016.
To commemorate his life, Monolith and Warner Brothers released a piece ofcharity DLC: “Forthog Orc-Slayer"with the proceedings meant to go towards the late developer’s family.

Publisher Nor Studio Will Gain Profit FromMiddle-earth: Shadow of WarDLC
It wasn’t until people started pointing out the little fine print below, mentioning that donations would only count from purchases made within the US, excluding 6 other states and seemingly international sales, that the backlash began last week.
WB Games will donate to the Forgey family $3.50 from every purchase of the Forthog Orcslayer made from any 1 of the 50 United States or D.C. (but, excluding purchases made from AL, HI, IL, MA, MS and SC) through August 23, 2025. Void where prohibited by law. Your purchase is not tax deductible.

The 6 excluded states are Alabama, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, and South Carolina. The backlash mainly surrounds the question as to “where exactly would the proceeds made from sales be going to?”
In response to the backlash, Warner Bros. has provided a statement on Twitter below:
“Neither WBIE nor Monolith will profit from any sales of the Forthog Orc-Slayer DLC regardless of the territory in which that DLC is sold.”
While it does clarify that the publisher and in turn the studio won’t being making a profit from the character DLC, the question as to where the proceeds would be going remains unclear.
you’re able to make a donation directly to Forgey’s family on theirYouCaring page. It was launched last year to pay for Forgey’s medical expenses as well as to provide a future for his children, but it was unfortunately short of its $300,000 goal despite raising over $130,000.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Warwill launch on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC onOctober 10.
