In an insane twist of fate absolutely no one saw coming one of the most niche but utterly charming DS titles is making its fantastic return to the west at last. This series made its debut on DS where the first two titles managed to see localization but the third entry on 3DS never did. Last year this trilogy of titles launched on the Nintendo Switch and a given that the third entry never saw the light of day originally most fans deigned it unlikely to ever see the light of day again in English. Fortunately all that is no longer the case as we’ve been given an announcement today from Nicalis that this trilogy is not only coming, but planning to launch early next year for Nintendo Switch! Those who have kept up with the franchise know that it’s seen a slew of spin-offs over the years including the previous released Funghi Explosion for Nintendo Switch. This trilogy will include all the side games on DS featuring Funghi in addition to slews of concept art, comics and more fun little bonuses for players to check out. The biggest reveal by far is simply that the third entry will be available in English for the very first time so those who have been in love with the series since the DS era will finally be able to see how this story concluded.
The popular character and sidekick Funghi has become a bit of a mascot for the franchise and this is further emphasized with Nicalis announcing not only a physical release for this title but a special edition that includes a plush with the iconic Funghi himself! The physical and digital versions of Touch Detective will be available for $50 with the special addition running just $60 for an additional plush companion. As of right now these titles will be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch and even in Japan they have seen no other platform releases at this time but it’s still great to see it no longer stuck on DS in English and finally available to enjoy with new higher resolution visuals on a modern platform!
