A new report from Twitter reveals that there will be no new variants inLokiSeason 2. Marvel Studios introduced the concept of variants for similar characters existing in the multiverse. This was the same case with Loki’s multiple versions seen throughout the series after his tragic death inAvengers: Infinity War.

From female Loki known as Sylvie, Kid Loki, Alligator Loki, and many others, the Disney+ series’ first season paved the way to introduce more variants. While Marvel has been keeping quiet about particular details of the show, it seems that a scoop has revealed one of its plans.

In an interview withTotal Film, Hiddleston reflected on the plan of making a sequel:

“It’s very much continuing to excite and challenge me. At the end of season 1, the story isn’t over. I think that’s really clear. Loki’s almost more unstable, and as turbulent and passionate and chaotic as he’s ever been. And maybe some of that needs resolution. There’s stuff to unpack.”

Whether the scoop proves to be true or not, one Loki variant that deserves to return would be Kid Loki. The character holds so much importance to the plot, and while he had limited screen time in the Disney+ series, the sequel could make up for the ambiguous ending that Marvel gave the character.

These Loki variants added more emotional depth to the narrative. Series writer Michael Waldron toldDeadline:

“In creating the show in the first place, the only way it’s worth doing to me is that we can find a new story to tell with this character.”

He also revealed they had found the technique on how to incorporate the science of pathos in the next season:

“It felt like we had new emotional ground to cover with Loki. That’s the only way into season 2. We absolutely found that. It’s a great continuation of that story that feels different from season one and hopefully will subvert expectations.”

With only the return of Loki and Sylvie variants reportedly confirmed for the sequel, fans are quite devastated. For some, it was enough to kill their hype for the show.
