Bit Reactor, the developer working on aStar Warsstrategy game for EA, has recently revealed that work on the title has not been interrupted and will continue as planned.
May The Force Be With You
In 2022, it was announced thatBit Reactor and Respawnwould work on new titles forStar Wars, each focused on a genre in which they were experts. Bit Reactor, comprised of veterans who worked on games like X-Com and Civilization, was assigned a strategy project.
Last week was difficult for the industry, and more so because of our strong relationships within the other teams at Respawn. But for those asking, we are still hard at work, and our game was unaffected by last week’s news.— BIT REACTOR (@bitreactor)July 13, 2025

The issue is that withinEA’s new structure, the company will seek to phase out licensed titles in favor of working on its own IPs, sports games, and massive online communities.
The Mandalorian FPS Game Was Cancelled
The company’s restructuring has led to the cancellation of one of theStar Wars projects, more specifically an FPS game. The studio announced that it had been working on this project since 2022, and two years later, it seems that it will not see the light of day. This time, we could be talking about The Mandalorian game.
We have decided to pivot away from early development on aStar Wars FPS Action gameto focus our efforts on new projects based on our owned brands while providing support for existing games. It’s always hard to walk away from a project, and this decision is not a reflection of the team’s talent, tenacity, or passion they have for the gameLaura Miele President of EA Entertainment,

This information comes from Electronic Arts, who confirmed the layoffs and that Respawn will no longer be working on this new FPS installment of the well-known franchise. On the other hand, the developer will focus all its efforts on the Star Wars Jedi saga.
We’re not sure what theStar Wars strategy gamewill be like or when we’ll get a glimpse of it, but for those who feared it was lost along with The Mandalorian game, it seems we have nothing to worry about.
