The story ofMonster Hunter Wildswill take you throughout multiple areas, each with their own ecosystem. The first is the desert, then a forest, then a volcanic environment and finally a frigid wasteland. Most of them are fairly straightforward: talking to NPCs, and they lead you to the next destination. For the fiery pit of the forge, there will be one quest where you will actually need to track down a monster.
What is The Black Flame?
The Black Flame is a ferocious monster based on the story of Monster Hunter Wilds. It appears roughly halfway through the campaign after taking down the money-like Ajarakan monsters. It will make one heck of an appearance, disposing of the Ajarakan you have just slain without much trouble, so you know it’s not something to be trifled with.
Unfortunately, it’s something that looks to be troubling the land, and being a hunter of the Hunter’s Association, it’s your job to find it and restore balance to the area, and hopefully send the festival off with a bang.
Where to Find The Black Flame
As you might expect, The Black Flame is located somewhere in theOilwell Basin. Considering the cutscene happens here, it’s only right to assume that all you need to do is look around the main base to find him. You would be mostly correct.
You will need to travel all around the Oilwell Basin to find him, but there is one clue you might have to find him: lava. This oily octopus-like monster is attracted to flames, and there’s no better place to find it than down in the depths of this active mountain.There’s one spot in particular that’s rich with lava: area 15.
This is one of the bigger maps in the game, so it can be a bit daunting to find him, but fortunately we know exactly where he is. You will need to go down to the second layer of the map. In order to do this, head north from the camp and head to area 7. Once you reach here, you can either go northwest, which will take you to area 8, or look towards the edge of the southernmost part of area 7. The latter is probably the quickest, but a little more complicated because of all the twists and turns.
Jump down into the pit where you’ll be in area 8. Move all the way south into area 9 and then head to the east into area 15. And there you have it. A battlefield perfect for the Black Flame: molten lava as far as the eye can see. As you might expect, this is where the Black Flame is hiding, and once you spot him, the mission will begin to take him down, allowing you to use your SOS signal flare whenever you see fit.
Where to Find Sleep Herbs in Monster Hunter Wilds
Putting monsters to sleep is needed for capture, but crafting them does require a bit of adventure.
