CBS All Access, the CBS Television Network’s digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service, today announced its second original drama series, the highly anticipatedStar Trek: Discovery, will launch Sunday, Sept. 24 with a broadcast premiere that night on the CBS Television Network airing 8:30-9:30 PM, ET/PT. The time is approximate following NFL Football and60 Minutes. TheStar Trek: Discovery seriespremiere will also be available on-demand on CBS All Access and the second episode of the series will be available on the service that same night immediately following the broadcast premiere.
Star Trek, one of the most iconic and influential global television franchises, returns to television 50 years after it first premiered withStar Trek: Discovery.Star Trek: Discoverywill follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The cast includesSonequa Martin-Greenas First Officer Michael Burnham, along with Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd, Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou, Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, Chris Obi as T’Kuvma and Mary Chieffo as L’Rell. This new series will also feature the first openly-gay character, Lt. Stamets, played by Anthony Rapp, an astromycologist, fungus expert, and Starfleet Science Officer aboard the Discovery, along with James Frain as Spock’s father, Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca, captain of the Starship discovery, and Mary Wiseman as Tilly, a Starfleet Academy Cadet in her final year of study, assigned to the Starship Discovery. The cast is rounded out by Shazad Latif as Lieutenant Tyler, Rekha Sharma as Commander Landry, Kenneth Mitchell as Kol, Clare McConnell as Dennas, Damon Runyan as Ujilli and Kenneth Mitchell as Kol.
