In the past few years, studios have tried to write off reshoots as a necessary part of the filmmaking process, especially when it comes to big blockbuster tentpole movies. The movie is going to start reshoots next week. And guess what? The movie has added an all-new character.
To be fair, we’re not sure if the movie is actually adding a new character, or getting rid of an actor that didn’t work out.Deadlinereports thatShohreh Aghdashloois coming into shoot new scenes next week. She is best known for her roles inHouse of Sand and FogandHouse of Saddam. Apparently she’s a fan of movies and TV shows that begin with House.

Abrams’Star Trek franchiseis bringing back the main cast of the 2009 reboot and its 2013 sequelStar Trek Into Darkness.Chris PineandZachary Quintoare reprising their roles asCaptain Kirkand Mr.Spock, withZoe Saldana,Karl Urban,Simon Pegg,John ChoandAnton Yelchinrounding out the crew of the USS Enterprise. Newcomers includeIdris Elbaas the main villain,Sofia Boutellaand Lydia Wilson.
Shohreh Aghdashloowill be playing the High Command of the Federation, which sounds like a pretty important role. Though, no character details have been revealed. The movie will be directed by Fast & Furious franchise directorJustin Lin, who stepped in afterJ.J. Abramsbailed to directStar Wars: The Force Awakens.

These reshoots won’t affect the movie’s release date. Paramount still has it slotted to open on July 04, 2025.Shohreh Aghdashloohas the distinction of being the first Iranian woman to win an Emmy, which she took home in 2009 for the aforementionedHouse of Saddam.
