Ambrosius is an octopus who The Deep keeps in a water tank in his closet. After theirunhingedscene in Season 3 ofThe Boys, Season 4 is where we hear the character talking for the first time. But how did Tilda Swinton get cast? In an interview with Entertainment Weekly,The BoyscreatorEric Kripkestated,
Once we decided we were going to have Deep have regular conversation with his octopus wife, we just wanted the biggest, classiest British Oscar-winning actress we could possibly find. That’s a reasonably short list. We didn’t know Tilda. It’s not like some of our other cameos where they’re friends of friends and we reach out to them.

Fortunately for the show, the Marvel star thought the role was hilarious and hastily agreed to it,
We just reached out to a rep and sent her the script. To her everlasting credit, her rep was like, ‘She loves this and thinks it’s hilarious and would love to do it.’

Thus, that is how Tilda Swinton ended up voicing the hilarious character. As Season 4 ofThe Boysis still airing, we certainly cannot wait to see what Ambrosius and The Deep are up to and where their unexpected love story will lead.
The Boyscan be streamed on Prime Video.
