Nintendo Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto has officially announced who will play Link and Zelda inThe Legend of Zeldamovie before it begins shooting. Releasing in 2027, this Sony Pictures film will give us a look into what a live-action fiilm set in Hyrule will look like. Now, we know who will play the two main leads.
Pinocchio Actor Stars as Link in The Legend of Zelda Film
Bo Bragason will be portraying Princess Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth takes on the role of the Hero of Time Link. No details about the storyline have been released yet, but you may notice how young these portrayals will be. Evan Ainsworth was born on July 10, 2025, according to hisIMDBpage. Meanwhile, Bo Bragason seems to be of a similar age. Due to their ages, it will likely be an origin story; it will be an epic moment when Link wields the Master Sword for the first time.
Bragason has previously starred in King and Conqueror as Queen Gunhild, The Jetty as Amy, and was Roxy in the well-received Renegade Nell 2024 TV series. Evean Ainsworth has starred as Mark inSon of a Critch, Lester Smart in Everything’s Going to Be Great, and the titular character Pinocchio in the 2022 live action remake. Despite their young ages, both seem to have a rounded experience in TV and film.

Many people in response will likely breathe a sigh of relief that relatively unknown actors will be taking on the roles in this2027 filminstead of big names like Tom Holland, who plays Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Nathan Drake in the Uncharted movie. Many reeled over the choice of Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario forThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, even though he was decent for the role.

Wes Ball will be directing Bragason and Evan Ainsworth when the film begins shooting. Ball has been behind the camera for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. He has also worked with teenagers in the past as the director of The Maze Runner series. A reputable source,Deadline, has reported that T.S. Nowlin is the writer behind the screenplay. Nowlin has previously lent his penning skills to The Maze Runner movies, The Adam Project, and Pacific Rim: Uprising.
