Larian Studios, developer ofDivinity Original Sinhas never officially confirmed whether its sequel,Divinity Original Sin 2will be coming to the PS4 and Xbox One. Presently the game is inearly accesson PC with a sizeable portion of the game’s first act available for players to test and provide feedback on. As recently as yesterday however, the developer has provided a tease that the game making its way to consoles was at least still a possibility:

This echoes similar sentiments shared last year when the game was in itskickstarterandearly launchphase, but with many months gone by and gaming development so subject to changes, it’s encouraging to see it may still be on the table.

Divinity Original Sin was released for consoles a year after the release of the PC version, via theEnhanced Editionof the game and it made a seamless transition to the combat audience. We played it extensively and streamed several playthroughs and found the combat, exploration and multiplayer as engaging as the PC version.

There is an increasing desire for traditionally PC experiences on consoles and we are starting to see more migration and adaptation for the current gen of consoles. Games likeTorment: Tides of Numeneraare being developed simultaneously for PC and consoles, and in the case of Tormentwithout compromising or sacrificing anything.

We’re fans of both PC and console gaming here at the site, acknowledging the benefits both provide, but when it comes to games we get lost in like Divinity, there are few things better than curling up on the couch with a drink, a friend and a controller.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is set to release sometime in 2017 for PC and hopefully consoles. We recently named it one of ourtop RPGs for 2017.
