Developer behind Hitman IO Interactive reveals a new online fantasy RPG in the works currently under codename Project Fantasy.
Project Fantasy An Online RPG is Hitman Developer’s Next Project
IO Interactive is known for the Hitman series but are working on something rather different. Revealed today the studio is developing an online fantasy RPG currently known under the codename Project Fantasy.
The game is described as being inspired by “Fighting Fantasy” books which encourage readers to choose their own path. Whether that be facing “wizards, lizards” or even “thief kings”. IOI expects that this title will be able to entertain players in “many years to come” according to the blog post. The idea is that a group of individuals come together each with their own different skills and strengths to “work together”. This description sounds like a Dungeons and Dragons-inspired title at its core with “creativity, imagination, building a world together”.

Apart from that the new IP has little else to go on, no details of when we can expect the game to launch but it sounds quite early on in development. IO did tease a single image over on Twitter, featuring fantasy characters exploring a mysterious land. A new fantasy roleplaying title could very well be a great opportunity for something different to currentCRPGtitles like the upcomingBaldur’s Gate 3. The online element has us intrigued as to whether this will be purely a party team-up or something more MMO. No details on exactly which platforms will be focused on, but job descriptions do mention PC and consoles.
