Blizzard Entertainment just released the newest patch on the public test realm which introduces “Avoid as Teammates” along with hero changes and bug fixes. Blizzard has been investigating all reports of toxicity since they rolled out “report a player”. It is as easy as hitting the Player Report tool and submitting a report whenever players run into bad behavior.

Changes to Report a Player & Addition of Avoid a Player

to facilitate the clarity of incoming reports there will be a few chances to the names of some categories when reporting a player. Firstly, “Griefing” will become “Gameplay Sabotage” as griefing is a very broad term used used to describe various things. The second other change is the removal of “Poor Teamwork” category as many players were using this category like griefing .Game play sabotage is meant to be used when a player disrupts the game or harasses other players through the use of normal gameplay mechanics.

A prime example is when your teammate playingSymmetraplacing their teleporter at the side of cliffs and other dangerous locations so teammates immediately drop to their death. They are already throwing playingSymmetraand now they pull that. Feeding is another example of gameplay sabotage. Feeding is when players intentionally allow themselves to be killed by the enemy team.

Overwatch

Blizzard wants to remind players that non-meta Hero does not mean they are sabotaging the game. Players who are trying hard to help their team to win should not be reported, regardless of the hero they choose. Even though playing non-meta heroes puts the team at a disadvantage. I guess Blizzard doesn’t play to win.

If players use the “Avoid as Teammate” option on a player, that action is will be effective in the next match. The matchmaker will no longer place you on a team with the avoided player for one week. Avoid as Teammates does not take the place of reporting someone for things like Abusive Chat, Inactivity, or Gameplay Sabotage.
