Microsofthas changed its plans regarding its next major release,The Outer Worlds 2fromObsidian Entertainment, which will now launch at$69.99. The role-playing game is set to release onOctober 29, and was initially expected to be affected by the price hike Xbox had previously announced for its fall lineup.
Microsoft Lowers Launch Price of The Outer Worlds 2
Last month, Microsoft had stated thatThe Outer Worlds 2would be the first title to reflect this new pricing model. However, a spokesperson has now explained that the company wants to offer “incredible worlds to explore,” including releases likeThe Outer Worlds 2,at$69.99, “in line with current market conditions.”
Regarding the price revision, they added humorously: “While this won’t bring peace to the galaxy—or even your local colony—we assure you we’re here to fight for all colonies in every way possible.”

Will Other Releases Be Affected?
The Outer Worlds 2will be available onPC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5in October, and will also launch onXbox Game Pass.
While the announcement specifically cites Obsidian’s game, the full statement seems to suggest that other holiday season releases—such as the upcomingCall of Duty—may retain their usual pricing.

Back in May, Xbox announced not only game price revisions, but also increases for consoles and accessories. “We understand these changes are challenging and have been implemented with great care, considering market conditions and the rising costs of development,” Microsoft said at the time.
