SPOILER ALERT: This story contains SPOILERS for Violent Night.

AViolent Nightsequel is currently in the works, and we’ll be seeing David Harbour returning for the bloody holidays once again as his badass Santa Claus. There’s no telling just yet who else might appear in the film, though it’s possibleJohn Leguizamowill appear to reprise his role in the original. InViolent Night, Leguizamo plays the villain, Mr. Scrooge, serving as the antagonist to Harbour’s St. Nick. After a vicious battle, Scrooge is defeated by Santa in a way that pretty definitively suggests the character is dead.

But this doesn’t mean there won’t be an appearance from Scrooge in the sequel. Addressing the possibility in aComicBook.cominterview, Leguizamo teased that he very well might show up inViolent Night 2, but at the same time, he cannot specifically confirm nor deny his potential involvement. As the actor told the outlet:

John Leguizamo Violent Night (1)

“I can’t reveal anything, but you might see me.”

Despite Scrooge’s fate, there are a number of ways the character could be brought in for an appearance inViolent Night 2. In a world where Christmas magic exists, perhaps there will be a way for Scrooge to be resurrected. He could also possibly appear in a flashback sequence. But it’s also just as possible that the character will not show up at all, and that Leguizamo just doesn’t want to tell the fans anything about will be in the sequel in any way.

Violent Night 2 Is in the Works

What we do know aboutViolent Night 2is that it comes from the same creative minds behind the original installment. Tommy Wirkola will be back in the director’s chair to use a script from original writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller. The film is in the early stages, and it could be that Leguizamo doesn’t know just yet whether or not he could appear. Wirkola has teased that there were a lot of ideas that didn’t get used in the first movie that are right there to be included inViolent Night 2.

“There’s stuff we left on the floor like the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, the elves,” Wirkola said, viaTheWrap. “But story-wise I think we have a really, really cool idea that expands on the world and scope, but still keeping that tone that we love from the first one.”

Violent Nightis now available on Blu-ray and DVD, as well as digital outlets.
