How to Make Hogwarts Legacy Run Better (Consoles and PC)
Depending on your chosen platform, you’ll have a certain amount of options you can change to better suit your needs. We’ll go over each of those settings for both platforms below:
Hogwarts Legacy – PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
Next-gen consoles have a select few graphical presets they can choose from, each offering the player a different experience.
There are two other modes available for those who have TVs or monitors with HDMI 2.1 available, those being Balanced Mode and HFR Performance Mode, but the majority of players will likely land on the three initial modes mentioned above.
In addition to the graphical modes above, there are a handful of other options that console users can change to tweak their game’s performance:
So, what is “better” in this instance? Well, it entirely depends on your preferences. For the smoothest experience possible, we’d recommend playing in Performance Mode, but if you want the best looking trip through the Wizarding World, Fidelity with Raytracing is your best bet.

Hogwarts Legacy – PC
PC players, naturally, have a much longer list of options to tweak on their end, making the possibilities for graphical improvements quite vast. The ideal scenario would be to run the best possible graphics with the highest possible framerate simultaneously and, depending on your PC’s hardware, you may just be able to do that.
In general, here’s a few options we’d recommend using, regardless of your hardware:
For the global quality settings (textures, effects, shadows, etc.), each one should be tailored to your hardware limitations. Depending on your hardware, it may be a good idea to switch everything to Low or Medium and bump up individual settings as much as your system can handle.
