Sonic arrows allow you to mix things up a bit. They can spice up some of your combat, help with solving puzzles, and even allow you to access pathways or loot that would otherwise be kept from you. Later in the game, you’ll also unlock runic arrows. They’re covered in another guide, but just know that you can swap between these arrows by pushing up on the d-pad whenever you need to.

Obstacles And Puzzles

When it comes to sonic arrows, you’re always going to be looking for some green-tinted Soundstone.Shooting the Soundstone with a sonic arrow causes it to implode, breaking whatever it was attached to.This can lead to opening up new pathways, such is the case with the log in the image above. Without using a sonic arrow, the river would be impassable for Kratos in his boat.

This can also be applied to puzzles throughout the game, where you may need to hit a crane with Soundstone attached to break it. If you happen to spot a piece of Soundstone, it’s generally a good idea to hit it with a sonic arrow and see what happens.

Loot And Treasure

On your journey, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to gather loot. In fact, if you’re diligent about collecting loot, some characters will even comment on it. You’ll find some loot locked away behind Soundstone, as is the case with many loose barrels sitting around in the game.Hit these with a sonic arrow and then collect your goods. It may not always be a lot, but usually, you’ll at least find some hacksilver to help line your pockets.

Fighting The Enemy

you may’t rely on sonic arrows for a lot of damage, but they do help build up the sonic status effect. This will inflict concussive waves on the enemy. Sonic arrows also seem to be a reliable way to help build the stun meter. This is great for smaller enemies, as using R3 will often finish off a weak enemy.

This is also a great strategy during boss fights, as filling their stun meter will often take off a significant chunk of health.Just remember that you do start with a limit of three sonic arrows, and they have a cooldown before you’re able to use them again. So, be strategic with your use of them in combat scenarios.
