Tomasz Tinc, editorial director at Rebel Wolves, assures that the development ofThe Blood of Dawnwalkeris not at risk, as NetEase is only a minority shareholder.

The Blood of Dawnwalker A Promising RPG from Veteran Developers

The Blood of Dawnwalkeris the upcoming RPG from Rebel Wolves, a studio led by former CD Projekt developers (veterans ofThe Witcherseries) such as Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and Tomasz Tinc. The game looks very promising.

The title does not yet have a specific release date, but it has been confirmed for a 2026 launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Development of The Blood of Dawnwalker “Progresses Steadily”

However, the latest news surroundingNetEase, the Chinese company that owns a stake in Rebel Wolves, is far from encouraging. They have divested from Western studios following Marvel Rivals, and their investment in non-Chinese titles is clearly declining.

There are rumors thatNetEaseis facing a severe financial crisis, which could inevitably affect Rebel Wolves' promising vampire RPG—or so we thought.

Fortunately, the studio’s editorial director and co-owner has clarified the situation on his personal LinkedIn account. He confirms that they are not experiencing financial difficulties and that The Blood of Dawnwalker is progressing smoothly.

“The production of The Blood of Dawnwalker is fully funded, and we are working alongside our partners and friends at Bandai Namco, the global publisher of our game, to bring the first chapter of the Dawnwalker saga to life.”

The Vampire RPG Is Not at Risk

Tomasz Tinc acknowledges NetEase’s situation—neither confirming nor denying the rumors—so it is likely that the speculations are true. However, he reassures that the development of The Blood of Dawnwalker is not in jeopardy.

This is because NetEase is only aminorityshareholder in Rebel Wolves, which is primarily owned by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and other former CD Projekt RED developers.

Additionally, he clarifies that their first game’s fundingdoes not depend on NetEasebut rather on publisherBandai Namco, which previously distributed some entries inThe Witcherseries.

“The development of our game is progressing steadily, and we are not facing any financial issues. The majority of Rebel Wolves' ownership is in the hands of Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and other co-owners of the studio, all of whom are Rebel Wolves employees. NetEase is a minority shareholder of Rebel Wolves.”

This statement confirms that Rebel Wolves is not part of the"dozen studios that could be shut down", according to recent rumors regarding NetEase’s current situation. In other words, there is no risk of closure.

NetEase is currently undergoing layoffs and restructuring within its studios, so cancellations are expected. Even Marvel Rivals was at risk of never seeing the light of day, as NetEase was reportedly reluctant to pay for Disney’s licensing rights.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being developed by Rebel Wolves and is set to release onPS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PCsometime in 2026. So far, its most intriguing feature is an original mechanic that players can bypass if they think strategically, despite its strong narrative connection.
