Death Stranding 2 Pre-Load Schedule Revealed

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the latest title coming from legendary game creatorHideo Kojimaand his studio,Kojima Productions, is still a few months away from its official release date. However, despite the game’s release being scheduled forJune 2025, the pre-load details have already been revealed. As a direct sequel to 2019’s original Death Stranding, the game once again followsSam Porter Bridgesas the protagonist.

However, instead of building connections, which was the main theme of the original title, the sequel is a more personal journey for Sam. As is the case with any Hideo Kojima-developed title, much of Death Stranding 2’s story and gameplay-related details are still under wraps.

However, thanks to the game’s PlayStation Store listing, we finally know the official pre-download date for the sequel. Here’s everything you need to know about Death Stranding 2’s pre-load schedule, platforms, and more.

Death Stranding 2 is scheduled to be released onJune 26, 2025. However, if you pre-order the game, you can start pre-loading it fromJune 17, 2025. As for the pre-load timing, it’s midnight local time on July 08, 2025. Additionally, although the game is releasing on June 26,pre-ordering theDeluxe Editionwill allow you to play the sequel startingJune 24, 2025.

Do note that the 48-hour early access is only available as part of theDeluxe Edition’spre-order bonus. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition won’t grant you early access to the game. However, Standard Edition owners can still pre-load the game starting June 17 and keep the game installed on their console.

Death Stranding 2 Platforms

Much like the original Death Stranding, the sequel is releasing as aPlayStationexclusive. The game is coming exclusively to thePlayStation 5. However, given that the original title eventually made its way toPCand evenXbox, it’s quite likely that Death Stranding 2 will also get ported to other platforms later down the line. However, as of the writing of this article, Kojima Productions has not revealed any details regarding a potential PC or Xbox version of the title.

Death Stranding 2 File Size

The original Death Stranding (without theDirector’s Cutupdate installed) weighed in at roughly55 GB. However, given that the game is built using the newer iteration of Guerrilla Games’ Decima Engine, it’s bound to get a significant bump in the storage department. Judging from the pre-release trailers, the sequel seems to be using the same iteration of Decima asHorizonForbidden Westand Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

Both these titles come with file sizes that far exceed the100 GBmark. Suffice it to say, Death Stranding 2 can also easily go well beyond 100 GB.

However, that’s only speculation on our part. As of the writing of this article, Kojima Productions has not revealed any details regarding the game’s file size.
