Chris Hemsworthjoins the world ofMad Maxas the villainous Dementus in the upcoming prequelFuriosa, and the Marvel star has called his character “violent, insane, brutal person born from a wasteland.” So, everything you would expect from aMad Maxantagonist. Appearing alongside co-star Anya Taylor-Joy, who will play a younger version of theMad Max: Fury Roadcharacter Imperator Furiosa, at CCXP, Hemsworth offered some insight into his merciless baddie (viaCollider’s Steven Weintraub).

The CCXP event unveiled the first trailer forFuriosa,akaFuriosa: A Mad Max Saga,offering our first lookat Hemsworth as Dementus. And the character certainly looks like a change of pace for the actor most associated with the MCU superhero, Thor. Sporting a large prosthetic nose, a glorious beard, and the kind of leather ensemble that audiences have come to expect from the inhabitants of theMad Maxpost-apocalypse, Dementus is a vicious warlord who drags Furiosa into the violence of the Wasteland.

Dementus is expected to play a major part in the life of Furiosa, with the prequel taking place 15 years before the events of the critically acclaimed, Academy Award-winningMad Max: Fury Road.Furiosahas now been described as an “odyssey,” and will follow the titular hero from the moment she was snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and into her adulthood as she fights to survive.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

A prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa is an action-adventure film that tells the origin story of the headstrong and fearless Furiosa. Set shortly after the beginning of the “end of the world,” Furiosa is kidnapped and brought before a powerful warlord, now forced to work for him. To find her way back home, Furiosa will adapt to the new harsh and arid world as she grows into the Furiosa she becomes known to be.

His role as Dementus in Furiosawill see Chris Hemsworth transformed, with the actor recently declaring the movie to be the one his is most proud of so far in his career.

Directed by George Miller from a screenplay he co-wrote with Nico Lathouris,Furiosawill be led byThe NorthmanandLast Night in Sohostar Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa, with the actor taking on the role first portrayed by Charlize Theron inMad Max: Fury Road. Furiosawill also feature Tom Burke (The Wonder, The Lazarus Project), Nathan Jones (Mad Max: Fury Road), Angus Sampson (The Lincoln Lawyer, Mad Max: Fury Road), Daniel Webber (11.22.63, Escape from Pretoria), and Lachy Hulme (Three Thousand Years of Longing), alongside Taylor-Joy and Hemsworth.
