Helldivers 2, like the stratagems commands players put in during a mission, arrived with a bang and there are no signs of stopping now. Between the exciting cinematic sequences players get to experience, and the low-key panic of getting your teammates killed in the midst of battle, there’s a small part to the game that ties everything perfectly.
In an interview with Arrowhead’s CEO, it has come to light that stratagems are an important focus for the team, and the game will keep seeing new updates to the same as the game witnesses future updates. Clearly, these ‘minigames‘ are important to the player’s experience, and there’s a lot to look forward to here.
Helldivers 2’s stratagems are going to receive new updates
In aPlayStation blog, an interview with Johan Pilestedt (CEO of Arrowhead) revealed a lot of new details about what exactly goes into makingHelldivers 2a unique experience. Johan largely focused on humanizing the entire experience, urging players to feel that sense of urgency in battle. Every mission should feel like an attempt at survival, and making it to the end goal.

Between these moments of urgency, players spend a good chunk of their time calling in for some extra support. Whether it’s a support weapon, a jetpack, or even an orbital strike, stratagems are a unique part of the entire experience, and Johan wants the studio to create more of these experiences.
He goes on to explain the philosophy behind it:
Stratagems are generally designed in an iterative and sprint based fashion. We play the game and get bored by the current selection, so we add another one. Maybe a designer that has an idea, such as the walking barrage, or something more advanced.
A recent example of this is the Exo-44 Walker; this cool mech that can be called in gives players a weaponized and mobile method of dealing with enemies on a planet.
Stratagems are just one part of the equation
Stratagems are important mini-games to the ultimateHelldivers 2experience, and they’re only truly fun because of the aid they deliver to a player. This is possible when the team comes up with interesting weapons and machines to improve the gameplay experience.

Over time, Arrowhead plans on working on this even more, and we can expect to see many combat-based upgrades and quality-of-life improvements in the game. Even thoughsome may not agree with them.
Moreover, stratagems will eventually become the bridge between all thatHelldivers 2has to offer, and how a player builds a unique playstyle for themselves.
