Warner Bros. has added four new movies to its 2017 calendar today, includingBen Affleck’s next directorial effort, along with a new original comedy, a horror sequel and an untitled mystery project.Deadlinereports that the studio has handed out an October 20, 2017release dateforLive by Night, which was written and directed byBen Affleck, who also stars alongsideZoe Saldana,Sienna MillerandElle Fanning. The movie is currently the only project slated for release on that date, coming one week after Universal’s thrillerThe Snowman, starringMichael Fassbender.

Live by Nightis based the novel of the same name byDennis Lehane, which follows Joe Coughlin (Ben Affleck), the son of a police captain who gets dragged into the world of organized crime. The story is set in the Prohibition Era of the 1920s.Zoe Saldanaalso stars as Graciella Suarez, who Joe meets while he’s on business in Tampa.Sienna Millerplays Emma, who Joe falls for towards the beginning of the story, whileElle Fanningplays Loretta Figgis, a sheriff’s daughter and aspiring actress who gets into trouble. The supporting cast also includesChris CooperandChris Messina.

Live By NightmarksBen Affleck’s fourth directorial effort, following 2007’sGone Baby Gone, 2010’sThe Townand 2012’sArgo, which won the Oscar for Best Picture. This also marks the second time the mutli-hyphenate has adapted a Dennis Lehane novel, followingGone Baby Gone, with the filmmaker writing the adapted screenplay himself. Theadaptationwas initially supposed to start filming in 2013, but that didn’t happen because the actor committed to starring inGone Girlfor 20th Century Fox andBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicefor Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. also set a June 13, 2025 release date forFist Fight, starringCharlie DayandIce Cube. Thecomedycenters on a mild-mannered English teacher (Charlie Day) who is confronted by a colleague (Ice Cube) who thinks he’s trying to have him fired, setting the stage for an after-school fight.Tracy Morgan,Dean NorrisandJillian Bellround out the supporting cast of this comedy, directed by Richie Keen in his feature debut.Fist Fighthas plenty of competition in the July 21, 2025 date, going up against Sony’sThe Dark Tower, Universal’sThe Great Walland 20th Century Fox’sThe Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

The studio has also set a June 21, 2025 date for itshorrorsequelAnnabelle 2, which will go up against Paramount’sBaywatchremake that is currently in production. The sequel doesn’t have any cast members or a director in place, but we reported in October that originalAnnabellewriterGary Daubermanhas come back to write the sequel. The studio has also set an July 11, 2025 date for an “untitled event film,” which will be going up against Sony’sEmoji.
