Earlier this week,Marvel’s massive blockbusterAvengers: Age of Ultrondebuted onDigital HDformats, before arriving onBlu-ray 3D,Blu-rayandDVDon October 2. Now that fans have the opportunity to scour through the film, frame-by-frame, it shouldn’t be surprising that a new Easter Egg has surfaced. Reddit userKaleanspeculated months ago that one of the A.I. chips Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) uses for Ultron is labeled “Tadashi,” which is most likely a reference to Tadashi Hamada, Hiro Hamada’s big brother in Disney’s hit animated movieBig Hero 6.
Big Hero 6is actually the first big-screen animated adaptation of aMarvelcomic book, albeit a very obscure one.Big Hero 6was created by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau in 1998, debuting in a three-issue mini-series. The characters later came back for five separate mini-series that launched in 2008, but it still is one of Marvel’s most obscure comic titles. Theanimated movieadaptation performed quite well at thebox office, taking in $657 million worldwide ($222 million domestic) from a $165 million budget.

Avengers: Age of Ultronwas still in production when the first trailers forBig Hero 6debuted, so it’s possible thatJoss Whedondecided to give a tiny nod to the animated movie. As it turns out, there is also a secondEaster Egg, with another AI chip labeled Jocasta. In the comics, Jocasta was a sentient robot created by Ultron, by stealing the brain patterns from Janet Van Dyne. Jocasta was created to be Ultron’s bride in the comics, but, we likely won’t see Jocasta on the big screen anytime soon, at least not as Ultron’s wife.
Marvel’sAvengers: Age of UltronstarsRobert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along withChris Evansas Captain America,Chris Hemsworthas Thor andMark Ruffaloas The Hulk. Together withScarlett Johanssonas Black Widow andJeremy Renneras Hawkeye, and with the additional support ofSamuel L. Jacksonas Nick Fury andCobie Smuldersas Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeatJames Spaderas Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played byAaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form whenPaul Bettanybecomes Vision.
It remains to be seen how many more Easter Eggs will be discovered, now that this hit sequel is available on Digital HD. Unfortunately, the Digital HD,Blu-ray 3D,Blu-rayandDVDwill not feature a director’s cut, as confirmed byJoss Whedon. While we wait for news on more Easter Eggs, check out this screengrab fromKaleanbelow fromAvengers: Age of Ultron.
