MultiVersus Review: Back & Looking To Knock Out The Competition
MultiVersus is back with its full game launch, with many technical changes and updates that could help give it an edge against the competition.
10Use The Training Facility
Practice, Practice
Getting to know your character will be the only way you can reallyact on instinct in the middle of a fight. However, it may be discouraging to learn this in the heat of battles with strangers and feeling like you cannot win. The good news is that there is amode for players to practice inwith whatever settings they want to feel more confident with their main character.
There are a lot of different characters and character combos, and you can practice for all of them if you want to spend the time doing so. You canset the difficulty of the AI and choose your Perks and layoutsto make things as realistic - or not - as you want. It is also a good way tounderstand how to make combos happen and how to read your opponent’s moves. For some specific tips about making combos, seeYouTuber DarkSynth’s video.

9Controls Are Customizable
Don’t Feel Stuck
If you are having trouble nailing a particular combo or if you are coming from a different fighting game likeSuper Smash Bros. that has a different layout, you are not stuck with controlsthat you are not familiar with. Two different layouts are pre-programmed as“Default” and “Legacy.”Of the two “Legacy” will more closely mirror older fighting games.
However, you can customize it even furtherif you would like and make sure that it is exactly what you want. Everyone could have a slightly different preference, or if there’s one sticky key you want to attempt to avoid pressing if possible you can switch that to an attack you use less. That shouldmake it easier for you to have a better win percentage.

8Types of Characters
Knowing The Roles
There arefour main rolesas defined byMultiVersuswith the full launch of the game. Support characters are now fairly spread out among the other classes, and although each class has an archetype, different characters within them can handle different ranges.Get to know the differences and what each class doesso that you can choose one you understand the best, recognize your opponent’s class, and plan accordingly to take them out efficiently. For a more detailed description, seeYouTuber Poppin Ofte..’s video.
Assassin
These characters tend to be fast and very good and dealing damage. However, some of them, like Stripe, are extremely light and easy to perform knockbacks on.
Bruisers
These will be some of the better options for 1v1 fights, as they have more health but can still do a fair amount of damage without much support.
Mages/Ranged
These tend to have a lot of tricks up their sleeves and can perform better further away. They also often have traps and tricks to keep opponents busy.
Tank
Tank characters can take a hit and then give it back - but quite slowly. They want to build up armor and charge up heavy attacks.
7Working With Teammates
Synchronization Is Key
Working with your teammate is one of the most important thingsyou can learn to do inMultiVersus. There’s a lot of buffs and added bonuses for working together, such as picking the same perk. This is because picking the same perk willallow you to stack the benefits and get more use out of it.This also means you are both more likely to synchronize your strategy and work together toward a common goal.
Too many players get caught up in their own 1v1 battle while their teammate struggles alone. If you do not help them, youwill be stuck in a 2v1 battle by yourself without any help. If you go to help your partner, you will have a chance to get an advantage over your opponent in the few seconds before they get lured in as well.

How To Get Prestige Points In MultiVersus
Multiverse contains several different in-game currencies. Prestige Points are a major currency that can help players acquire exclusive items.
6Try Something New
Branching Out
Don’t be afraid to try something new, particularly if you are struggling to get the hang of your current character. There areat least 27 characters to try,and the difficulty levels are somewhat subjective. There is no reason why you might not feel more comfortable with something that is labeled as more difficult to understand, depending on what you have played in other fighting games.
If you are struggling with one type of character, try switching to a different class to see if that class suits you better.

Every week, there are a few free characters that you may use as guest fightersfor that week. It will let you use those characters in fights, and you can test them out without spending any money or unlocking a Battle Pass for the current season.Take advantage of the opportunity to learnif you might click better with a different character than the one you currently use.
5Learning How To Cancel Moves
Split-Second Decisions
Sometimes you start out doing a strong move or think you are about to unleash something quite devastating and realize that you are not going to hit them anymore. Luckily, some moves and characters have ways to get out of them. For instance, an Air Down attack is often a spike that may no longer be viable if your opponents have noticed your plan and moved out of the way.
Therefore, learning how, or if or when, you can break out of a move or combois just as important. Often these games have split-second decision-making that will require you to have fast reflexes. Practicing how these moves work and how to get out of them is thebest way to hone the instinctfor that in the midst of a battle with your opponent. Below is a basic list of all attack types in the game.

Happens without player interference
4Rifts
Challenging
If you want a way to practice but without the more boring nature of the Training Lab, then thenew Rifts are the right way to go. There are plenty of challenges available for players within the Rifts section of the game, and itfeatures bosses and new mini-games. The best part is, it helps you level up your character and learn their moves without having to go on a public server.Super Nintendadexplains how to collect Rift Cauldrons for more rewards.
Completing Rifts can count towards progressing certain events which can help you unlock new fighters and more cosmetics without paying for them.

That being said, if you do want to play with friends, thegame allows you to play Rifts together. That makes you better able to complete the challenges, and learn how to work together, and you can both collect all the rewards with no splitting necessary. Plus, you might even get to unlock something likeAgent Smith in MultiVersusalong the way.
3Perks
Perfecting And Leveling
Much like inPerks inDead By Daylight, you can level up Perks by leveling the fighter they belong to. This allows you tomake them better and max them outas you play and win more. Once you reach Level 9 for any given fighter, you can thenpurchase and equip different Perksthat allow you to truly maximize their potential.
There are Perks that are better for certain characters, but some that justincrease damage or make you fasterwill be advantageous no matter what. Players can alsopick a Signature Perk for their characterto use that is thematically appropriate for each of them. The types of Perks are described in the table below:

Description
Generalist
These can work well for any player but often have very standard effects like extra jumps or more damage.
These focus on increasing damage and breaking armor.

These make you harder to knockback or KO
Utility
These usually reward you for doing something well or help you do those things better.
Signature
These are unique to each character and often boost special abilities.
Mark Hamill’s Joker Is Back - 32 Years After His Debut
Mark Hamill has a long and iconic legacy as the Joker, and against expectations, his involvement with the character isn’t quite over yet.
2Don’t Neglect Dodging
Look At Your Meter
The Dodge Meter is another thing to keep in mind in the middle of fights tomake sure you are not vulnerable. You canonly dodge six times before your Dodge Meter is depleted, and you will have to give it a chance to refill. While the game will let you dodge while the Meter is empty, if you get hit you will take damage.
However, this is not the case with the Air Dash. Thisalso consumes part of your Dodge Meter, and it consumes it in two uses. So take care to measure out your Dodgesfind ways to break them up and give yourself a chance to refill themwhile not putting your character at risk. This will allow you to get away from enemies and damage them when necessary.

1Getting The Kill
Understanding Percentages
There are a lot ofnuances to how certain characters get knocked backand how much their damage percentage can get to before they are Rung Out.Understanding when an opponent is in lethal rangeand when to go for your heavy attack is the best way to get a higher win percentage. This goes the other way as well: knowing when your character is in danger of being knocked out is just as important.
This is another reason to practice, but, additionally, knowingwhat moves are powerful and how to keep opponents from recoveringis all part of this idea. Keeping them juggled in the air is one method, but keeping them from recovering back on the edge is another. And, when they are vulnerable, hit them with a heavy attack off a platformand do not let them recover so that you can take the win inMultiVersus.
